“That could never happen here…”

“That could never happen here…”

Every human being since the beginning of time has, at least once, reflected on another human’s foibles and said, “Well I never would have done that,” or “That could never happen here.” Sometimes the wording is, “No one I know would ever do that.” The problem is that even if we have only a shard of cold insight into our hearts, we know how close we’ve come to doing exactly what we huffed about our fellow man doing. And sometimes someone we know has done it. We may have actually done it.

Cases in point: take a look at our article entitled “Social Media Privacy Breaches in the News” in the current issue of Rx for Risk. Reading these stories takes your breath away. How could licensed healthcare professionals go this far over the line? What were they thinking? Where did they get their training? Most importantly for you: What can I do to protect my patients from my employees’ gross misbehavior?

We provide you with some strategies for doing just that in an accompanying article in the same Rx for Risk issue.  If you haven’t read Rx for Risk lately, register on the website to get access to it (almost 3000 of your colleagues have already done so), and read the articles I mentioned. Of course, feel free to contact the Risk Management Consultation Service for more information.
