The Life of PRMS: Scott Alkire, Senior Litigation Specialist

In 2005, after handling auto and homeowner claims for State Farm for ten years, I was looking for something a bit more challenging in my field. I found it, and much more, at PRMS. I can say without reservation that my years at PRMS have been the most stimulating and rewarding years of my career.

Frankly, before joining PRMS I knew little about the practice of medicine generally and even less about psychiatry and the treatment of mental illnesses. Having seen nearly every conceivable type of claim that can be brought against a psychiatrist or ancillary healthcare professional, from cases involving Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Tardive dyskinesia to suicides and boundary violations, my understanding of and respect for the daily challenges faced by mental healthcare professionals “in the trenches” has grown tremendously.

But my appreciation of the world of psychiatry and learning the skillful management of litigation against its practitioners are only part of my story at PRMS. When I first joined PRMS nearly 12 years ago I was immediately impressed by the deep knowledge of psychiatry by its management and staff, their passion for what they do and especially their professionalism. My experience here has only deepened those initial impressions. I can honestly say that having the opportunity to do work that matters with people whom you respect and who respect and appreciate you makes PRMS one of the best places to work in the field.
