This May, PRMS Shines a Light on Mental Health Awareness Month

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month this May and as part of our efforts to give back to the mental healthcare community, PRMS is proud to support three organizations advocating for mental health in our communities: Child Mind Institute, Seek Her Foundation, and Purple Heart Foundation. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAHMSA), which works as a government agency to lead public health efforts that advance behavioral health in the United States, also released an updated 988 Lifeline toolkit this month, the details of which we are pleased to share below.

Child Mind Institute

Nearly one in five children struggle from mental health or learning challenges, yet around 70% of counties in the United States do not have a child and adolescent psychiatrist, according to the Child Mind Institute website. The Child Mind Institute recognizes the need for compassionate, personalized, and evidence-based care among young people, and is dedicated to advancing child and adolescent mental health. Through public education, research, clinical centers in San Francisco and New York City, and telemedicine support in several states, the organization strives to combat the challenges that stigma, misinformation, and lack of access to care create for children and their families. Since its founding more than a decade ago, Child Mind Institute has helped more than 14,050 children receive clinical care and has educated millions of families, all while leading a revolutionary approach to the science of the developing brain through its Scientific Research Council, an advisory team of the country’s top leaders from various academic institutions. Seek Her Foundation

“SeekHer Foundation is on a mission to bridge the gender gap of mental health through advocacy, research, and support for emerging leaders who are impacting change in their local communities & beyond,” as its website states. Since the start of the Foundation in 2021, SeekHer has helped women-led communities and leaders by providing resources, programming, financial support, and community building. Purple Heart Foundation

The Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life for veterans and their families, providing support across the country through a number of programs to help combat the emotional, medical, and financial challenges faced when returning from combat and beyond. For over 60 years, the foundation has provided programs and services such as scholarships, grands, and resources.
