PRMS and Southern Psychiatric Association Co-Host First Virtual Annual Reception

PRMS and Southern Psychiatric Association Co-Host First Virtual Annual Reception

After more than a year of experiencing new ways of living due to the COVID-19 pandemic, requiring working from home, telehealth appointments, cancelled in-person events and meetings, and the nearly exclusive use of virtual platforms, PRMS decided that a virtual reception in 2021 would be the perfect way to bring together colleagues, clients, and friends, most of whom we have not been able to see since our Fall 2019 reception. We were pleased to co-host our first virtual Annual Reception with the Southern Psychiatric Association on Friday, April 30th, 2021.

We invited guests to select from one of two virtual activities, Wine Tasting Like a Pro or Family Feud, or to drop by for casual conversations in our Social Chat Room.

Wine Tasting Like A Pro

Wine Tasting, hosted by Skillpop, invited guests to enjoy a happy hour-style class led by Kristy Wenz, WSET Level 3 in Wines. During the class, attendees learned about the basics of wine tasting and pairing, as well as Kristy's top recommendations for new wines to try. To better understand the keys to pairing wine and food, guests tasted through three different wines, each paired with a variety of small sweet and savory bites as a group. By the end of class, everyone was better equipped to continue exploring their personal wine palates!

Family Feud

Led by Confetti Project, Family Feud – or should we say Colleague Feud! – took contestants through multiple entertaining game rounds, plus one lightning round, for a fun digital take on the popular TV game show. Attendees were broken up into two randomly assigned teams to compete against each other and come up with the most popular answers for each survey question the host presented. The winning team, Flight of Ideas, took home bragging rights with the final question, “Name a weather condition that is four letter long.” The top response was snow.

Social Chat Room

PRMS and Southern Psychiatric Association hosted many of our guests in the Social Chat Room during our virtual annual reception for an opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues throughout the event. Guests could stop in briefly to say ‘hello’ before joining their respective activities or heading off for other plans, or could stay the entire time to enjoy piano tunes and cocktail making demonstrations (thanks to Kery Hummel and the Senior Psychiatrists!), as well as lively conversation. Following the completion of Family Feud and Wine Tasting, all guests were invited to join the chat room to bring everyone together. At the end of evening, Tonya Davies, Head of PRMS, thanked everyone for joining the event and announced the winner of our raffle!

We are thankful to everyone who joined our first virtual annual reception, our co-host, Southern Psychiatric Association, and to those behind the scenes who made it happen! It was wonderful to see so many of you virtually, and we hope to see everyone in person again soon!
