Mental Health Awareness Month 2020 - PRMS

Join PRMS in giving back this May

PRMS Gives a Hoot for Mental Health Awareness Month 2020

During this unprecedented health crisis, it’s more important than ever that we stay home as much as possible. But while we continue to remain physically distant, we commend psychiatrists for staying connected, rising to the challenge, and continuing to find ways to deliver mental health services. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and in support of the entire health community at the frontlines of COVID-19 and those providing much needed care to both patients and healthcare providers, we are pleased to announce our donations to World Central Kitchen and Give an Hour this May. Additionally, we’ll be tripling donations – our largest yet at $150 per referral! – made through our “Refer a Colleague” program this month to chosen healthcare organizations around the country.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, World Central Kitchen is currently working throughout the U.S. and other global destinations to safely provide fresh meals to communities in need of support, from children and families to seniors and healthcare workers. Additionally, the organization is activating restaurants, many of which are right here in the DC-area, to help meet demand by providing jobs for food industry staff and drivers through its #ChefsforAmerica initiative, connecting those who need meals with those who need to earn a living.

Give an Hour, which provides a virtual support network of volunteers to give free and confidential mental health care to those who serve, veterans, their families, as well as those affected by natural disasters and tragedies, is also providing resources and assistance to hospital workers and communities facing the effects of the pandemic. With May also being National Military Appreciation Month, we’re pleased to be able to support the mental health of our active and retired service members through this organization.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, PRMS is tripling all donations through our “Refer a Colleague” program during the month of May to $150! For every referral PRMS receives, we provide a $50 donation (tripled to $150 in May) to a state psychiatric association, NAMI, or a national or regional specialty psychiatric association of the referrer’s choice – whether or not an insurance policy is purchased. Please visit PRMS.com/Refer, to learn more about the program and start earning donations today. To see how “Refer a Colleague” has evolved, please read our past posts about the program from 2016, 2018 and 2020.

Join us in our efforts to support these valuable organizations and support the mental health community!

World Central Kitchen, established by Chef José Andrés, uses its network of chefs and volunteers to feed thousands of people in disaster areas, and works to empower people with a focus on health, education, jobs, and social enterprise.

Give an Hour has a national network of nearly 7,000 volunteer psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and others mental health providers to provide free counseling to troops and families, as well as those facing disasters and crises.
