This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of psychiatrists in clinical practice.
With more than 60 years combined experience in providing psychiatric-specific risk management, the three speakers have seen just about everything. They will present lessons learned from the professional liability cases and potential cases they have seen to assist participants in increasing patient safety and decreasing their liability exposure. Topics to be covered include administrative actions, treating patients with suicidal behaviors, psychopharmacology, medical marijuana, EHRs, social media, telepsychiatry, and more. There will be ample time for attendees’ questions throughout the program.

- Recognize the benefits of utilizing a formal suicide risk assessment tool in clinical practice
- Reconcile patient confidentiality with exceptions to that confidentiality
- Incorporate into practice the 3 Cs – three risk management strategies to increase patient safety and minimize professional liability risk
