PRMS Builds Awareness and Supports Research for Neurological Disorders
PRMS is committed to building awareness of neurological diseases. As part of this commitment, we participate in a variety of events and causes promoting the research and community outreach of organizations dedicated to fighting these diseases. In April 2009, PRMS sponsored a participant in the MS Walk 2009 This September, PRMS will also sponsor a colleague participating in the 187-mile Tour de Canal bike ride fundraiser to benefit the Alzheimer's Association, National Capital Area Chapter. As we cheer on these participants and support the invaluable work of these organizations, we also hope to lend our support to the many people affected by neurological disorders.

PRMS Risk Manager Quoted in Neurology Today
It has become one of the emerging, controversial topics in medical malpractice: off-label prescribing. How does off-label prescribing affect medical malpractice risk? Is insurance premium affected by prescribing medication off-label? A recent issue of Neurology Today tackled this topic and sought the knowledge of PRMS Vice President of Risk Management Jacqueline Melonas, RN, MS, JD.

Recent Developments with AIG
The insurance carriers for PRMS-managed programs, The Psychiatrists’ Program and The Neurologists' Program, are National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Lexington Insurance Company, subsidiaries of the American International Group (AIG).

The Surprise You Don’t Want: Discovering Your Professional Liability Coverage Is Not Enough
PRMS participated in a panel discussion at the 2008 American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting titled, “How to Launch a Successful Private Practice.” The three-part series began with a discussion on obtaining proper professional liability insurance. Martin Tracy, JD, ARM, President and CEO of PRMS, began with the most important lesson he wanted to teach all psychiatrists: “All practice policies are not the same. It’s a huge concept to learn.”
